Scheduling academics

Hello Nicholeen,
I just attended the Texas Honeschool Coalition Conference. There was a homeschool mom/speaker who had some statistics on how much academic time and play time each age group needs. According to her, children from approximately ages 6-12 years need about 1-3 hours of academics and about 8 hours of play. Do you know if this is accurate? I don’t know the source she was using, she didn’t share that information.
