Keeping children safe and at home

We have three small children ages 3, 6, and 7. Our efforts to do the self-government program are helping us stay calm when our children misbehave and have helped our children feel safe at home and learn life skills. We still have challenges with our children trying to push the limits, particularly when they’re not supervised. One challenge we have is what to do when our children want to escape the house and roam the neighborhood. The other day our oldest was returned by a police officer because we did not go to find her right away. Another time our youngest tried to climb out a window and fell a short distance. We can lock doors and windows, but we don't like to do this and our children can get out if they really want to. How can we help our children want to stay at home and be safe?
