Verbally abusive when given the 24hr loss of privileges

What should we do when 15yr old ODD verbally abuses us when he fails the rule of 3 (given 24hr loss of privileges)? He responds with anger saying, ‘I hate you’, ‘I wish you’d die’, ‘Youre a bully’ etc.when he talks out of the moment about it. He realises it isn’t okay and says he didn’t mean those things.
