Skill: Following Instructions

Until the last few days I never realized just how many things I ask and/or tell my six-year-old to do! Does every single request require the full process for following instructions? I know we need to get into the habit of learning and following the steps, but it is beginning to feel tedious. For instance, if she is helping me clean up the kitchen after dinner do I need to give her the full instruction and receive an OK for every small task such as putting something in the refrigerator or carrying a dish to the sink? Or was the instruction really just that she help me clean up the kitchen and she checks back when it's all done?
