Hi Nicolene, I have a little boy of 2 & 3/4 years old, who still wets and soils his pants all day and only does anything on the potty/toilet when he has just woken up and even then, if it is after a nap in the day, he will be very upset, and cry, saying he can't do anything. We have tried offering a treat every time he does something and especially if he tells us, but the penny isn't dropping for him and although he can talk and communicate very well for his age, we just don't seem to be able to get success. I did try doing role plays with him (we made the sound of a pee, with a pissss) we also did this with his siblings to show him what it would look like to tell mum and go to the potty, then get a reward. He loved the role plays. But when I tried to do a real session. He made a pissss sound and stood straight up, when I said, " try and do a real one" he said "it's a role play, I don't do a true pee". Do you have any ideas on getting him to go to the potty. It's embarrassing to tell this, but he can go days without getting anything in the toilet except first thing in the morning. I am not great at managing time and always running behind, having a big family. I know it makes more work having all the soiled and wet diapers, but I haven't been able to get him to be happy to go to the potty, not to speak of actually doing something on it.
