We are a family of 6. We have 4 children aged between 13 and 15. Our 13-year-olds are boy/girl twins, 14-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son. I found Teaching Self Government while searching 'how to be calm with my husband' ;). While watching the videos my children walked into the room and were really taking to Nicholeen, her style, tone, explanations, her scripts. All my children are at various levels on the autism spectrum, and some have ADHD. We started Teaching Self Government at the end of 2019. Our children were struggling with anger and meltdowns. We would try to do an activity as a family and 2 of the children would set each other off almost immediately. Often my husband would get overwhelmed and just leave the situation and retreat to his computer, bed or the garden. I would be left trying to deal with 2 violent out of control children.
