Austin and I had so much fun at the retreat! He is not the sort of guy who would willingly go to an even that was based around classes, so it is so funny and delightful for me to hear him rave about it and say over and over that he wishes we could get back there and feel that spirit again.
I have been riding a high as well, and I know that I can't go back to the way I was in my parenting, and in my self government. I am so excited to share with you the plans that we have made and the progress that we've made as well.
We would love to be able to get together with some of those people again.
We had a class with the kids tonight and played a game where we put different papers in a hat and pulled them out to know what skill we would practice next. One said "No Answer," another said, "Following Instructions," another said "Disagree Apropriately," and so on. We each took turns pulling a paper out of the hat and that person got to be the parent in the situation, and got to call on a volunteer to be the child. We had so much fun! We ran out of time to get all the beans over into the other jar, but we figured we could continue doing it every night until we got it, and then we'll do something special. It'll have to be bigger than ice cream though because we had that tonight and I think we'll be doing it again tomorrow to keep it fun.
Horray For Families!
