Teen loneliness

Our son just turned 18. We started Teaching Self Government when he was 15 or 16. At the time he was saying he was bisexual. He has come a long way in his beliefs, and can't wait to have meetings each week. He's been working on stopping porn which he hasn't been looking at, but is still struggling with masturbation. Another problem is that he has always felt unable to develop deep relationships with friends throughout his teen years. He recently made friends with a few kids, but feels unable to go deeper in his friendship with them. He feels that he has a dark side because he will feel attractions to his male and occasionally female friends. He feels that he can't share these things with anyone. The people he is friends with seem very innocent, and he feels like they would feel that he is distorted and would reject him.
