Self reporting

How would you handle the process of children self-reporting and correcting themselves to parents/siblings before the parent corrects the situation, then redoing the situation the right way, or doing a role play on the correct behavior, and then they can lose the extra chore. We see this as another way to show they are working on their self-government. Where would you draw the line for whether they earn an extra chore or family economy consequence, e.g. When given an instruction, they don't stay calm initially, but quickly recognize their failure and self-report it etc. as opposed to: They hit someone, recognize they did wrong and self-report etc. Would you still carry out the Maijor maintenance normally earned for this behavior.
