Proactive Children

Do you have any recommendations on teaching children to be Proactive with chores around the house. I would like to know how to better transition children from chores to stewardship. What ages are appropriate and what should be my initial expectations for this?

My 14 yr old boy is assigned the bathroom every Saturday and my 10 yr old boy the powder room. I don't think it's ever been done without an instruction. I would like it to be an understood instruction/habit.

My 14 yr old does make breakfast on his 2 days typically without being told. So I know it's possible.

We have done a chore chart on the past. And thus is seeming like the best for the youngest children before they get privileges. There seems to need to be a little more ebb and flow with youth…but that makes it harder to consistently follow up. Maybe if they had a time on Saturday to report back by?
