Hi Nicholeen, I hope you are well, I pray for you and your family often. My husband is a tree climber and stone mason for a tree removal and landscaping company here in VA and they are considering going down to MS for storm damage work. His boss is looking into locking in some contracts with the insurance companies and if they go we’ll go with them to visit family because that’s where we’re from. Wouldn’t it be so amazing if my 10 year old son could meet Porter while we’re down there?! Last week’s call my question was about my 10 year old son. I know my son struggles with vision on why it’s good to obey because he goes weeks out of instructional control. He hates to loose his privileges and has a bad habit of holding on to emotional bondage when he does. But he’s very attracted to soldiers and police officers and his favorite date is when I take him to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Prince William County. Also he made a connection with a young man who had dinner with us when my best friend’s daughter who is also from MS needed to stay with us so she could pick up her fiance. He graduated up here from the airforce training base. And this young man gave my son his basic training hat and so now he wears it everyday. And my son is always asking a million questions to any man who is a police officer or if he finds out they were a soldier, like the older man who works at our post office. But so far we haven’t seen any young men around here who are going above and beyond to serve their communities or go on missions and just have that vision a young man needs for his life. The youth group at our church consists of 3 teenage girls. Last week when you told us about Porter serving down there I excitedly shared it with the children and they were all amazed. I know if my son could have a chance to see Porter in action and even get the chance to help and speak to him it would be an impactful little mentor moment for my 10 year old. I have no idea if it will end up paning out but I just thought wow wouldn’t that be an amazing opportunity. 🙂
Also on the call you said my son might see me as weak, is there anything I can do to change that? And he does have his privileges back currently, he got them back at 9pm Saturday night, but he really only did about 7 chores lol because we were running around for the better part of the day putting my daughter’s surprise sweet 16 birthday party together at our church. Thank you!
