How would you handle intentional, excessive belching/burping by an 11 year old?

Our 11 year old, excessively burps in front of us at home and then laughs about it. We consider it foolish, rude and disrespectful behavior.

Other parents have told me it is normal for kids her age and I am making too much of it.
What do you think?
