Nicholeen Peck coming to Moapa Valley, Nevada
On Saturday, July 13, 2013, book author and public speaker, Nicholeen Peck is coming to Moapa Valley to help families get more united and learn how to find peace in today’s troubled world. She will be teaching an all-day seminar to raise funds for her family’s mission to England this fall.
Do you want to learn to stay calm in any given situation? Are you looking for answers of how to stop the fighting and have a peaceful home? Nicholeen has the answers to the tough questions parents face in today’s morally decaying society.
Parenting (weather as a parent or a grandparent) is the biggest and most important challenge we face in this life. Nicholeen has been through it all and has the wisdom and experience of a Grandma. Since the young age of 8, Nicholeen began babysitting for other families. When her own children were young, she turned her home into a treatment facility by becoming a foster parent for troubled teens. Over the past 30 years she has parented literally hundreds of children. When she was on England’s BBC show in 2009 called “World’s Strictest Parents” her show was voted most-watched episode of the year. Everyone was amazed, and still are today, that this amazing mother can be calm in any situation and has no need to power struggle.
Nicholeen and Spencer Peck are the parents of four children. After being home-schooled, their oldest son, Quinton, is now attending George Wythe University at the young age of sixteen. They have been trained and certified in using the “Teaching Family Model”, which was developed at Boys Town and is used by the Utah Youth Village. They taught children with ADHD, OCD, kleptomania, compulsive lying, anger control issues, etc. Nicholeen said, “I taught behaviors, not medication. They would come to us on many medications and usually leave not on any medications. Many children are misdiagnosed. They just need to learn cause and effect better.” Nicholeen has been teaching Self-Government skills to people all over the world for over 11 years and has published a book on this subject called “Parenting A House United”.
This fall she and her family will be going on a philanthropic mission to England to help heal families by teaching Self-Government in Latter-Day Saint churches all over England. All proceeds for this event will go toward helping her realize that vision.
Teaching Self-Government is based on changing the feeling in your home in 2 ways. The 1st way is through behavior training. The 2nd way is through changing the heart through tone, and environment. In behavior training we teach “4 Basic Skills” which is one part of a proven system of consequences to help children learn ’cause and effect’. In changing the heart we focus on praise, pre-teaching, and working on tone – which does the true teaching.
Teaching Self-Government is a parenting resource for families who need a mentor in parenting, homeschooling, healing the home, and changing the heart to nurturing peace at home and become a more united family. Their products and services are expanding to help all those who have reached out for answers. Teaching Self-Government currently offers parents weekly help on the Implementation Course to answer their individual questions, as well as other products and services to help strengthen families.
