Support Call 3-4-16

This call covers:

  • Schedule switch-up for March!
  • How to access the BBC "The World's Strictest Parents" video.
  • 5-year-old is really big and it's physically dangerous to hold him in the Calm Down Spot. Tried the Rule of Three and it's worked mostly with him. Don't like switching though. Thoughts?
  • 20-month-old won't stay in bed and hits his siblings.
  • Engaging with child's therapist and getting child to open up.
  • Just starting homeschool and needing tips.

Support Call 2-26-16

This call covers:

  • Helping youth ages 12-16 keep their boundaries when in a group together and being kind to one another.
  • Dealing with young daughters that go from best friends to worst enemies.
  • Both parents work full time and cherish every moment with their children. Wonderingif homeschooling would be a good choice.
  • Getting age 18 daughter to stop procrastinating and being late to and with things.
  • Started a Commonwealth school, but has allowed it to take over the rest of life and looking for a way to fulfill responsibilities at the Commonwealth and at home.
  • Just attended Parenting Mastery Retreat and realising that our tolerances are too high. Also, having a hard time keeping track of every consequence earned. Thoughts?

This call covers:

  • How to correct someone else's child when in a group.
  • Comparing points of certain psychology to TSG: what's right and what's a little off.
  • Helping my son become more attentive and less distracted.
  • Catching my 15-year-old daughter with junk food in her room and stealing money to buy junk food. It's all she'll eat.

Support Call 1-29-16

This call covers:

  • Dad and children are constantly teasing each other and husband can't take criticism. It's creating lots of problems.
  • Husband and 15-year-old son are addicted to media, mostly the son. Video games have made him a different child. 
  • When it's okay and not okay to compare with your children.

Support Call 12-4-15

This call covers:

  • A reluctance to make a family vision because husband is a different religion and doesn't share the same beliefs and ideas.
  • Son disagrees appropriately with every instruction he's given. What to do with that. 
  • Limit on son's TV time, but he didn't want to accept it and he started a power struggle with me. 
  • a 2 1/2 year-old son has to have everything his way or he throws a tantrum. He doesn't really understand TSG stuff yet. 
  • Age 5 daughter can't accept no answers or criticism. When she's corrected, her self-esteem drops and she deflates. She says she's not good enough and her ideas are not good enough.

This call covers:

  • 2 1/2 year-old son seems to always be getting into trouble, not sure if it's intentional. Also, for 3 1/2 year-old daughter and him, if they don't follow instructions, should I be using the "calm down spot" instead of an extra chore?
  • My son will not follow instructions. He is 11 and just won’t. What do I do if he just calmly turns away from me every time I ask him to do something?

  • How do I help my 20 year old son to go back to school? Do I push it or just let it be since he is now an adult? What do I do? Can I make him?

This call covers:

  • How to still be a parent, even with shared custody of a child.
  • Handling multiple meltdowns at once.
  • Backup Calm Down spots for when multiple children need it.
  • Daughter is disrespectful to mother and monopolizes father, leaving no time for mother and father to have Couple Bonding time. Suggestions?
